Rigs these are outrigger mics, placed much further out to the left and right sides of the orchestra. The middle mic is usually used to fill the sonic hole in the middle, which arises when having the other two mics so far apart from eachother. The tree sides controls the right/left mic position, and the tree middle allows you to blend the middle/front mic in/out to taste.
#KONTAKT ORCHESTRA SLIDE GLIDE MOVIE#
A decca tree is the standard setup used when recording movie scores a set of three mics suspended high up above the conductors head, with one out to the left pointing down, one out to the right pointing down, and another in the middle, slightly forwards from the left/right, pointing down. Mic Positions What Are They? Tree sides and tree middle these are the components of a standard decca tree setup. The sliders control the volume of each mic position.

The sounds range from close, clear and intimate, through the standard positions used in most scores and recordings, to very distant ambient room sounds. Pizzicato Strings are plucked with fingersħ Mic Positions Mixer You can choose from many mic positions, and create your ideal sound blend. This is particularly helpful if you need to shorten then a little in a faster tempo, or if you d like something a little shorter, but not quite as snappy as sautille. The ADSR envelope to the right of the interface can be used to adjust the ADSR/volume envelope of the staccato samples. A good combination of staccato notes and sautille notes with this library can build a very convincing and well defined short notes passage. Spiccato becomes sautille when played faster, which is how many spiccato patches in sample libraries end up played.
#KONTAKT ORCHESTRA SLIDE GLIDE PATCH#
Sautille is not dissimilar from spiccato, so if you are wondering about the absence of a spiccato patch this is essentially it. Staccato & Sautille Best thought of as short notes and VERY short notes. Trills Both major and minor trills are playable to use the trills articulation, play the two notes you want to trill with together via MIDI. Harmonics Artificial harmonics a technique created by lightly touching the string at certain positions and bowing to produce much higher pitches with a very bright timbre. A harder velocity will result in a hard attack, whereas low velocities allow slow and gentler attack.Ħ Tremolo Unmeasured tremolo very quick alternate bowing on a single note. Attack Control In the legato modes, as well as polyphonic mode, the velocity controls softness/harshness of attack. All three legato controls are MIDI CC learn-able, so if you are refining a string line, and want to turn intervals down for a note or two, and up for a note or two later, you can do this by controlling the volume/lengths via MIDI. We ve set this by default to what we believe to be the most realistic sound however these things all depend on context, so it s a good idea to play around with these.

Legato and portamento length sliders allow you to adjust how much of the interval is played.

The vol knob controls the volume of all legato intervals use this to turn up/down legato to taste. Here, you can adjust the volume of the legato intervals, the legato interval length, and portamento length.

Further refinement and control over legato modes is available via the left hand side of the interface s legato controls. Portamento Portamento mode functions the same as normal legato mode, except the interval samples here include a slide from one note to the next. If there is a gap between the notes, no interval will be used. To ensure all interval samples are used, you must make sure that when playing a superseding note in a melodic line, to not release the previous one until the new one has been pressed. (Learn button) Polyphonic Polyphonic mode/articulation allows you to play sustains without legato intervals, polyphonically, allowing for more than one note at a time to be pressed for chords etc.ĥ Legato Modes Legato Legato mode uses normal legato intervals (no slide) between notes played legato. Each articulation can be switched to by playing its corresponding keyswitch key (displayed in red in Kontakt at the lower range of the keyboard) Changing Articulations Keyswitch Notes The note/key used to trigger an articulation can be changed by clicking the learn button (displayed below) pressing the key of the articulation you d like the change, and then pressing the key you d like to move the keyswitch trigger to. 4 Articulations To choose an articulation, either click on the articulation you would like in the displayed list, or use (recommended) its keyswitch.
